Fall Frolic: 8-Hour | 4-Miler
November 7 @ 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Hingham, MA – Four miles. Eight hours. Probably some mud. Definitely some questionable decisions.
The Fall Frolic is a laid-back trail running event with a few different ways to join. You can come run one loop, spend the day seeing how many loops you can rack up, or dip your toes into the wonderfully weird world of Backyard Ultras.
There are three ways to Frolic:
4-Miler: “I’m Just Here for a Good Time”
Run one 4-mile loop. That’s it. Four miles of trails, fresh air, fall foliage, and whatever nonsense we have going on out there. Run it hard. Run it easy. Walk when you feel like it. Stop and admire a tree. We won’t judge.
8-Hour: “How Many Can I Get?”
You’ve got 8 hours to run as many 4 mile loops as you can. Run a loop. Take a break. Eat something. Run another. Hang out. Run another. Question your life choices. Run another. There’s no requirement to keep moving, and you can call it a day whenever you’ve had enough.
Last Human Standing… But Not Quite
Ever wanted to try a Backyard Ultra but aren’t quite ready for the whole “miss the cutoff and you’re dead to us” thing? Well- this one’s for you! At the top of every hour, you head out for another 4 mile loop. The idea is to get back before the next hour starts, just like a traditional Last Human Standing/Backyard Ultra. But here’s the twist: If you don’t make it back in time, YOU ARE NOT ELIMINATED. Take your time, finish your loop, and you’ll be pushed over to the 8 hour category for the remainder of the race so you can still get some more miles in.
This is your chance to practice the Backyard format – figuring out pacing, fueling, recovery, and just how much time you actually want to leave yourself between loops without the pressure of getting sent home because you were 37 seconds late.
Whether you’re chasing miles, testing your legs, practicing for a Backyard, or just looking for a fun excuse to spend a November day on the trails… come join us!
